Couples Growth and Connection:
Relationships grow when couples learn to look beneath the argument, reaction, or moment of disconnection and become curious about what is actually happening between them. Couples Growth & Connection explores the patterns that can gradually pull partners apart and the skills that help them find their way back to one another. Through resources addressing After Betrayal, Small Issues—Big Fights, Creating Emotional Safety, Updating Our Relationship, Communication, and Running Instead of Reconnecting, couples can begin recognizing how criticism, defensiveness, withdrawal, emotional reactivity, unresolved hurt, and self-protection can interfere with connection. The goal is not simply to communicate better or argue less, but to develop a deeper sense of “we”—learning how to protect the relationship, create emotional safety, rebuild trust, understand one another's experiences, and approach difficult moments as partners rather than opponents.
The UNpsych framework provides a pathway for doing that work. We UNcover the recurring cycles, triggers, old wounds, assumptions, and protective behaviors operating within the relationship. We UNderstand why those reactions developed, what each partner may be trying to protect, and how two understandable individual reactions can combine to create an unhealthy relationship pattern. We then UNlearn the automatic responses that no longer serve us—criticism, defensiveness, shutting down, running away, attacking, avoiding, or trying to win—and practice healthier ways of listening, validating, repairing, taking responsibility, and reconnecting. Finally, we Become something more than two people trying to protect themselves: a team capable of facing difficult moments together, creating new relationship patterns, and intentionally building the connection we want to have.

Running may solve today’s pain, but it can create tomorrow’s loneliness. Each time we escape the discomfort without repairing what happened, another unresolved hurt can become part of the distance between us.
Running or Reconnecting explores the courage it takes to stay present when our instinct tells us to leave. Through active listening, curiosity, slowing our reactions, and intentionally trying to understand our partner’s experience, we create opportunities for repair.

Small Issues Big Fights
The podcast helps couples slow these moments enough to recognize the deeper emotional needs beneath the argument and the protection strategies each partner uses when those needs feel threatened. By unpacking the emotional backpack, challenging magnifications and negative story-building, replacing hurts with curiosity and understanding, couples can begin turning big fights back into conversations—and move toward protecting the relationship

Emotionally Safe
This podcast explores how couples can create emotional safety by letting go of scorekeeping, learning meaningful processes for forgiving and moving forward, practicing greater transparency, and regulating emotions during difficult moments. As partners stop allowing past mistakes to continually define the present, they begin creating new experiences that can change not only how each person sees themselves, but also the shared identity of the relationship—moving from “this is who we have always been” toward “this is who we are becoming together.”

Updating Our
Relationship Network
Every relationship is shaped by two connected networks: the network within me—my insecurities, emotional needs, past experiences, assumptions, and protective reactions—and the network between us, created by the patterns my partner and I repeatedly build together. Updating Our Relationship Network explores how the need to win an argument can ultimately lose connection, and how our own insecurities can become so loud that protecting ourselves takes priority over understanding the person we love.
The podcast moves couples beyond simply hearing the words toward helping each partner genuinely feel heard and understood
